Role Description

The Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) is a full‑time, hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA, with flexibility for part‑time work from home. The CSO will lead the development and execution of the firm's overall strategy, including market positioning, portfolio focus, and long‑term growth initiatives.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

• Conducting industry and market analysis.
• Shaping investment theses around scientific and technology trends.
• Collaborating with investment teams on business planning for current and potential portfolio companies.
• Working closely with executive leadership to align strategic priorities, optimize capital allocation, and refine internal processes to support scalable, science‑driven investments.
• Building strategic partnerships, representing the firm at conferences and industry events, and preparing high‑quality materials for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong Strategic Planning and Business Planning skills, with experience defining and implementing long‑term organizational strategies.
• Robust Finance and Analytical Skills to evaluate investment opportunities, analyze markets, and interpret complex data.
• Demonstrated Executive Management capability, including leading cross‑functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Experience in investment, venture capital, private equity, or strategy consulting, ideally with exposure to deep‑tech or science‑based businesses.
• Advanced degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a scientific discipline is preferred.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing on‑site collaboration in San Francisco, CA with remote work.
• High level of integrity, sound judgment, and a strong interest in science‑driven innovation and early‑stage ventures.
