Broadgate is partnering with a subprime auto lender who are looking for a new COO during a period of growth.

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Role Summary

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for building, scaling, and optimizing the operational engine of a fast-growing subprime auto finance company with a mandate to expand rapidly and sustainably. This executive will own day-to-day operations, credit execution, servicing performance, dealer engagement, compliance oversight, and organizational discipline — ensuring the company grows originations, improves portfolio performance, and strengthens operational controls as it prepares for larger capital partnerships or a future liquidity event.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in non-prime auto, understands the economics of risk-based lending, and can transform a small, entrepreneurial platform into a disciplined, scalable, data-driven operation.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Scaling

Lead all operational functions including underwriting, funding, servicing, collections, recovery, dealer management, and back office operations. Design and implement scalable processes, SOPs, and KPIs to support significant portfolio and originations growth. Drive automation, workflow optimization, and system improvements across LOS, servicing, and data infrastructure.

Partner with senior leadership to refine credit policy, risk segmentation, and pricing strategy. Monitor delinquency, roll rates, loss curves, and recovery performance. Strengthen early-stage collections, repo strategy, and loss mitigation to improve net loss performance.

Dealer Network & Originations Support

Oversee dealer onboarding, performance management, and relationship strategy. Improve dealer capture rate, funding speed, and program clarity. Implement dealer scorecards, performance tiers, and incentive structures aligned with portfolio goals.

Compliance, Controls & Governance

Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (UDAAP, ECOA, FCRA, TILA, SCRA, state lending laws). Build a strong control environment with audit-ready documentation, QA/QC processes, and risk oversight. Oversee licensing, regulatory exams, complaint management, and policy updates.

Warehouse Lender, State Agency & Credit Bureau Reporting

Own all warehouse lender reporting including borrowing base certificates, collateral reporting, and covenant tracking. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of state regulatory reporting. Manage Metro 2 credit bureau reporting, dispute handling, and FCRA/CDIA compliance.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in subprime or non-prime auto finance, consumer lending, or specialty finance
  • Proven track record scaling operations in a high-growth lending environment
  • Deep understanding of credit, underwriting, servicing, collections, and dealer-driven originations
  • Strong command of portfolio analytics, delinquency management, and risk-based pricing
  • Experience managing warehouse lender reporting, regulatory reporting, and credit bureau data furnishing
  • Demonstrated ability to work with capital providers, auditors, and regulatory bodies
  • High-integrity leader with strong communication, operational discipline, and execution focus
