The high-level of autonomy in operating the clinic presents an excellent opportunity to experience what owning your own practice could be like, while giving you the tools, mentorship, and support to lead the operation of a PetSmart Veterinary Services (PVS) hospital.Why This Role Stands OutPotential path to ownership with structured support and coachingCompetitive salary + leadership & management stipend + performance bonusesOpportunity to build and cultivate a clinic culture where pets, clients, and the team thriveA role where your voice matters—spanning both high-quality veterinary medicine and operational leadership, not simply another associate general practice positionWhat You'll Do – Clinical ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive wellness care across life stages, with a focus on prevention and client educationDiagnose and treat a wide range of conditions in dogs, cats, and select exoticsPerform routine and advanced soft tissue surgeries in a fully equipped suiteDeliver thorough dental care, including cleanings, radiographs, and extractionsCreate and manage diagnostic and treatment plans using in-house labs and imagingBuild a caseload aligned with your interests—general practice, surgery, internal medicine, behavior, or othersFoster lasting client relationships through trust and clear communicationWhat You'll Do – Leadership & Ownership DevelopmentLead and mentor the clinical team in partnership with Lead Tech on daily operationsHire, coach, and develop team members to create a positive, inclusive cultureCollaborate on staffing, inventory, and marketing with support from the business teamHelp ensure compliance with standards and operating policies for PVS hospitalsReview clinic performance metrics and receive guidance to grow as a business leaderPotentially transition into ownership through an independent franchise—with continued supportCreate and manage medical treatment plans, direction, and focus.QualificationsDoctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited institutionLicensed (and in good standing) to practice veterinary medicine in the state of employmentMinimum of 3 years of experience in general practice, preventive care, or a community clinic setting preferredPrior leadership or mentoring experience is a plusStrong communication skills and a genuine passion for client educationAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, retail-based clinic modelComfortable using modern veterinary software and digital records systemsAt PetSmart, Anything for Pets begins with our people.
