Our client, a rapidly scaling AI finance startup, is hiring a Chief of Staff as their first internal operations hire. You'll work directly with the CEO and CTO to drive the company's highest-priority initiatives — from scaling the team to owning financials to leading new customer and vertical expansions.
What you\'ll be doing
- Owning the hiring process as the company scales from ~8 to 20–25 people over the next 6–8 months
- Managing company financials — P&L, costs, margins — and running weekly business performance syncs
- Leading high-leverage strategic projects as they emerge (customer expansions, new vertical launches, research initiatives)
- Building internal operational systems and processes from scratch as the first person in this function
- Working cross-functionally across engineering, research, and customer-facing teams to unblock priorities
Required
- 2–5 years of operating experience, ideally at an early-stage startup (Series A or earlier) or in management consulting
- Experience owning cross-functional initiatives end-to-end (hiring, finance, ops)
- Strong generalist problem solver with extreme ownership — able to take ambiguous problems and drive them to completion autonomously
- High autonomy — self-prioritizes, pushes back, and drives outcomes without hand-holding
- Comfortable using coding agents or writing code to solve problems (enthusiasm matters more than prior experience)
- Financial modeling / P&L management experience
- Degree from a top-tier university; technical or quantitative background (CS, data science, engineering) a plus
Nice to have
- Prior Chief of Staff, BizOps, or strategy/ops role at a high-growth startup
- Experience at an AI/ML company or in financial services (IB, PE, HF)
- Experience building hiring processes and scaling teams
