The Sandra andMalcolm BermanBrain & Spine Instituteprovides comprehensiveinpatient and outpatientneurological care throughan integrated multidisciplinaryteam of neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists, rehabilitation specialists, advanced practice providers, and other medicalexperts dedicated todelivering exceptionalpatient outcomes.
Position Highlights
As Chief ofNeurology, you will:
- Lead strategic growthand development ofthe Neurology Service Lineacross the healthsystem.
- Direct clinical, operational, quality, and financialperformance initiatives.
- Build and mentora high-performingteam of neurologistsand advancedpractice providers.
- Expand innovative neuroscienceprograms, including strokeand tele-neurologyservices.
- Maintain an activeinpatient and outpatientclinical practice.
- Collaborate with executiveleadership to advanceneuroscience services andimprove patient access.
Primary Responsibilities
Executive &Physician Leadership
- Provide strategic leadershipfor the NeurologyService Line acrossmultiple hospitalsand clinical sites.
- Partner with executiveleadership, hospital administration, and medical stafftosupport organizationalgoals.
- Serve as theprimary physicianleader for neurologyprogram development, operationalexcellence, andservice line growth.
- Mentor physician leaders, neurologists, and administrativeteamsto foster professionaldevelopment and clinicalexcellence.
- Recruit, onboard, credential,and retain outstandingneurology physicians.
- Promote collaboration amongphysicians, advancedpractice providers, nursing, and multidisciplinarycare teams.
- Leadstrategic planning, businessdevelopment initiatives, and physician engagementefforts.
- Oversee the financialperformance, budgeting,and long-termsustainability of theNeurology Service Line.
ClinicalQuality & ProgramDevelopment
- Establish and maintainevidence-based clinicalprotocols aligned withnational standards, includingAHA/ASA StrokeGuidelines and NAECrecommendations.
- Lead quality improvementinitiatives, peer review, FPPE/OPPE processes, accreditation readiness, and performance improvementprograms.
- Monitor quality metrics, patientoutcomes, and operationalperformance across inpatientand outpatient neurologyservices.
- Support expansionof stroke, neurohospitalist, tele-neurology, epilepsy, andother neuroscience programs.
- Ensure regulatorycompliancewhile maintaining thehighest standards ofpatient-centered neurologicalcare.
Clinical Practice
- Maintainan active inpatientand outpatient neurologypractice.
- Serve as asenior clinical resourcefor complex neurologicalcases.
- Model excellence inpatient care, documentation, communication, and physiciancollaboration.
- Partnerwith emergency medicine, hospital medicine, criticalcare, rehabilitation, nursing, and specialtyphysicians to ensurecoordinated neurologicalcare.
- Participate in physicianeducation, case conferences, and ongoing qualityimprovement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO(or international equivalentsuch as MBBS)
- Board Certification inNeurology through theAmerican Board ofPsychiatryand Neurology (ABPN)
- Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license(oreligibility for Marylandlicensure)
- Minimum of7 years ofclinical neurology experience
- At least 5years of physicianleadership experience asa Division Chief, Medical Director, Chiefof Neurology, ServiceLine Leader, or similar leadershiprole
- Demonstrated success leadingmultidisciplinary physicianteams
- Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and relationship-building skills
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, MHA, MPH, or otheradvanced leadership degree
- Experience developing orexpanding tele-neurology, stroke, or neuroscienceservice lines
- Experience with JointCommission, DNV, ComprehensiveStroke Center, PrimaryStroke Center, orother quality andaccreditation programs
- Strong financial managementand physician practiceleadership experience
- Demonstrated success instrategic planning, physicianrecruitment, and programgrowth

- $450,000-$600,000 annually, based on experience
