Chief of Family and Internal Medicine

Sutter West Bay Medical Group is seeking a Chief of Family and Internal Medicine to provide clinical and operational leadership, ensuring excellence in patient care, operational efficiency, and financial performance. This role involves partnering with administrative leadership to manage practice, drive performance, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. The Chief will report to the Chair of Primary Care and align departmental performance with organizational goals.

Practice Info

• Practice in the greater San Francisco service area
• Part of a premier multi-specialty medical group with nearly 500 clinicians
• Works in partnership with Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation (SPMF), a non-profit organization
• Physicians work as a team to provide patient-focused care
• SPMF provides physicians with an administrative infrastructure
• Fully integrated EPIC EMR across both clinic and hospital settings

Responsibilities

• Lead the department in alignment with organizational goals and strategic priorities
• Partner with the Administrative Director to oversee staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation
• Develop and implement initiatives to improve patient access, provider engagement, and operational efficiency
• Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices and quality standards
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for providers
• Lead physician and provider recruitment strategy for Family and Internal Medicine
• Oversee onboarding and integration of new providers
• Monitor and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality, patient satisfaction, and financial sustainability

Compensation

• $325,000 - $425,000 /Yr.

Requirements

• MD or DO with board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience and 3 years in a leadership role
• Demonstrated success in managing clinical operations and driving performance metrics
• Experience with physician recruitment, onboarding, and team development strongly preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
