Chief Financial Officer

A St. Louis-based firm with a national reputation for supporting nonprofit organizations is hiring a Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

In this hybrid role, you'll work directly with a diverse portfolio of nonprofit clients while leading an accounting team of 5-7 professionals. You'll serve as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on leader, helping organizations strengthen their financial operations and make informed decisions.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a CFO and strategic advisor to multiple nonprofit clients, guiding financial decision‑making
• Lead, manage, and develop a team of 5-7 accountants, including coaching, feedback, and performance management
• Oversee monthly financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and clarity for client leadership
• Present financial insights to executive teams and boards of directors
• Support clients with budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and long‑term financial planning
• Build strong client relationships by proactively addressing questions and identifying risks and opportunities
• Ensure effective processes, deadlines, and coordination across all client engagements

To Succeed, It Will Help If You Have

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA preferred
• 5+ years of experience in public accounting, including work with nonprofit organizations
• 3+ years of team leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices
