Chief Financial Officer (Suffolk County, NY | $175–205K)

High‑impact financial executive role overseeing enterprise‑wide financial strategy, operations, and compliance for a large healthcare organization. Leads all financial management functions, long‑term planning, reimbursement optimization, and revenue‑cycle performance while directing a multidisciplinary finance team.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve on the Executive Team to shape organizational strategy and financial direction.
  • Lead financial strategy for FQHC operations, including PPS optimization, wrap reconciliation, and reimbursement maximization.
  • Provide financial dashboards, analytics, and insights to support executive decision‑making.
  • Lead Board Finance Committee engagement and present organizational financial performance.

Financial Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee all financial management functions: reporting, budgeting, cash management, banking, taxes, regulatory compliance, revenue cycle, and internal controls.
  • Own enterprise revenue‑cycle KPIs (Days in AR, Net Collection Rate, PPS realization).
  • Direct preparation of GAAP financial statements, annual operating/capital/cash budgets, and grant‑related budgets.
  • Ensure timely submission of Medicaid/Medicare cost reports, CFR (Article 16), and MCVR filings.
  • Oversee external audits and maintain adequate insurance coverage.

Systems, Processes & Infrastructure

  • Lead modernization of financial systems, BI tools, and reporting workflows.
  • Develop and enforce organization‑wide financial policies and internal controls.
  • Oversee purchasing and IT financial functions.
  • Collaborate with HR on benefits, pension, and payroll; serve as Administrator for the 403B plan.
  • Direct and develop a multi‑level finance team (Controller, Accounting Manager, Analysts, Credentialing, Purchasing).
  • Manage hiring, training, performance evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field.
  • CPA, CPC, COC, or similar certification preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, including 7+ years in healthcare; FQHC experience strongly preferred .
  • Advanced knowledge of PPS, APGs, Article 28/31/16 reimbursement frameworks.
  • Experience with financial systems modernization and BI tools.
  • Strong analytical, strategic‑thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial systems (Great Plains, eClinicalWorks, PayChex, UltiPro, Dynamics).
