We are seeking a Chief Estimator to lead our estimating department for our site development and civil infrastructure projects throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of estimating experience with a strong background in site development , including grading, earthwork, and excavation , as well as underground wet utilities (water line installation, storm drainage systems, and sanitary sewer construction .
As a natural leader and mentor , the Chief Estimator will provide guidance and professional development to junior estimators, establish estimating best practices, and foster a collaborative, high-performing estimating team.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing all preconstruction and estimating activities
- Developing accurate and competitive bids
- Reviewing plans and specifications in relation to site development and utilities
- Training and managing a team of estimators and takeoff technicians
- Managing quantity takeoffs
- Evaluating subcontractor and vendor pricing, while collaborating with operations
- Lead strategic bid reviews, identify project risks and value engineering opportunities
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of estimating experience within civil construction
- Experience with site development , including grading and earthwork projects
- Strong estimating background in underground wet utilities , including water, storm drainage, and sanitary sewer installation
- Expert-level proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid and other HCSS estimating software (required)
- Proven ability to lead estimating teams, mentor junior estimators, and manage multiple concurrent pursuits
- Demonstrated success delivering accurate, competitive estimates for public and private heavy civil projects
