Chief Engineer PositionWe are seeking a dependable, self-directed Chief Engineer to oversee all maintenance and engineering operations at our select-service hotel. This is a hands-on, working role in which the Chief Engineer is the sole on-site maintenance professional.The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically skilled, and comfortable managing daily repairs, preventative maintenance, vendor coordination, and emergency response independently.Key ResponsibilitiesProperty Maintenance & RepairsPerform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliances, and mechanical systemsMaintain guest rooms, corridors, public areas, and exterior grounds to brand standardsTroubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently and independentlyPreventative Maintenance ProgramDevelop and maintain a structured preventative maintenance scheduleEnsure timely completion of room PMs and equipment inspectionsMaintain accurate maintenance logs and compliance recordsVendor & Contractor CoordinationCoordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs (e.g., elevators, fire systems, roofing, major HVAC service)Obtain quotes and manage service contractsMonitor work quality and ensure compliance with property standardsSafety & ComplianceMaintain compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulationsOversee fire alarm, sprinkler, and life safety system inspectionsEnsure OSHA and workplace safety standards are followedBudget & Asset ProtectionManage the maintenance budget and control expensesMonitor utility usage and implement cost-saving measuresAssist with capital improvement planningOn-Call & Emergency ResponseRespond to after-hours maintenance emergencies as neededProvide prompt service to minimize guest disruptionQualifications3–5+ years of hotel or commercial building maintenance experienceStrong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systemsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionExperience with preventative maintenance programsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsBasic computer skills for work orders and reportingEPA certification and/or trade certifications preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsFrequent standing, walking, bending, climbing laddersComfortable working in mechanical rooms and outdoor environmentsOn-call availability requiredCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experienceHealth, dental, and vision benefitsPaid time off401(k) (if applicable)Employee hotel discountsIdeal Candidate ProfileThis role is ideal for a self-motivated maintenance professional who takes pride in keeping a property running smoothly and understands the importance of delivering a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for guests.
