The ideal candidate will ensure the safety, functionality, and efficiency of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and manage a team of maintenance technicians. The Chief Engineer will report to the Director of Engineering. **Duties/Responsibilities:*** Plan, coordinate, and oversee the maintenance and repair of all hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas.* Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the ongoing safety and functionality of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.* Partner with the Director of Engineering to manage the budget for the engineering department, including forecasting and cost control measures.* Hire, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.* Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repair work.* Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards, including OSHA and local building codes.* Respond promptly to guest requests and complaints related to maintenance issues, ensuring their satisfaction and comfort.* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inventory, and equipment manuals.* Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in engineering and maintenance management. **Required Skills/Abilities:*** High school diploma or equivalent.* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical school degree preferred or equivalent experience.* Minimum of 5 years of experience in hotel engineering or a similar role.* Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as building automation systems.* Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively.* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software.* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.* Must be able to work holidays and weekends. **Physical Requirements:*** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a colleague to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:* Must be able to lift equipment, supplies, etc. of at least 30 pounds.* Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.* The role may require extended periods on your feet, especially during peak hotel hours or events.* Clear vision is important for reading reports, analyzing data, and overseeing Engineering activities.* Good hearing is necessary for effective communication with colleagues, guests, and stakeholders.*Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.*
