REPORTS TO: General Manager

STATUS: Exempt

ANTICIPATED SHIFT: Minimum of 45 hrs/ Wk

UNIFORM: Designated Engineering Uniform.

JOB SUMMARY: The Chief Engineer is responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the entire property, specialty projects, and preventative maintenance of guest rooms and equipment with a proficiency in electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and plumbing.

Working Environment:

  • Will work indoors and outdoors with exposure to elements
  • Enclosed areas with tight spaces (Elevator shafts, crawl spaces, attics)
  • High areas to include tall ladders and roofs
  • Use and exposure chemicals and paint
  • Exposure mechanical equipment
  • Will work near moving or mechanical parts

  • Manage preventative maintenance of all equipment
  • Manage preventative maintenance of all guest rooms and public areas
  • Approve payroll hours and manage labor based on hotel needs
  • Complete weekly schedule for engineers based off projects and occupancy levels
  • Manage Transcendent usage and utilization
  • Be present during emergency situations
  • Maintain a tool and equipment inventory and par level
  • Ensure all team members are trained on appropriate equipment
  • Manage service contracts i.e. pest control, waste, landscaping, grease trap
  • Oversee guest maintenance calls to ensure engineers follow core standards
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly property meetings
  • Complete quarterly and annual evaluations of team members
  • Perform coaching and discipline as needed.
