Our mission is to consistently provide our customers with superior value through quality products, service, and support by contributing to the quality of life of all employees.As one of the nation's largest single-source providers of lighting and electrical products, electrical services, electrical construction, and energy management solutions we are expanding our staff and seeking an Chief Electrical Estimator to join the FSG-San Antonio team.Job ScopeAs a Chief Electrical Estimator, you will skillfully work with our project management, estimating, and sales departments on multi-million dollar projects. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in Excel, AccuBid, Word, and have excellent customer service skills.ResponsibilitiesTake off projects, enter estimates, and write proposals for both mid to large size construction projects with minimal supervisionReview estimates and lead bid review process with management personnel to ensure that bids/estimates are completed on time and with a high degree of qualityAssign and coordinate estimating requirements to estimating staff for each project based on schedule and project needsDrive estimating reviews to ensure that all project plans, specifications, and scopes are fully covered by the estimating staffConsults with project managers, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders as required to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issuesProvide guidance, direction, and support to estimating team to help resolve complex issuesResponsible for the accuracy of estimates and provides guidance to estimators dailySupervise, direct, train and mentor estimating staff to ensure company, team, and individual processes and goals are metManage day-to-day operations of a staff (up to 15 people) including operating budgets, staffing, performance reviews, and work assignmentsProvide conceptual budgeting advice to clients and project managers based on historical data, past experience and parametric estimating ratios; effectively communicate thought processAbility to assess project risks and requirements to provide support ranking and selecting bid opportunities; provide strategic input to ensure competitive pricingDevelop and maintain a positive relationship with key stakeholders including general contractors, clients, vendors, company personnel and estimating staffTrack information regarding material types and costs, labor productivity issues, historical data, and current construction trends to incorporate this knowledge into estimatesManage flow of information within department to ensure it is timely and aids in accurate estimatesManage the accuracy and quality of the estimating databaseMeet with general contractors and participate in bid interviews as requiredProvide management updates and analysis of department KPIsDevelop scope letters and assist with proposal preparationOther duties as assignedQualificationsStrong executive presence with an ability to build and manage effective relationships and department functions in a professional mannerExcellent communicator to effectively lead the team and provide clear directionAbility and desire to train and mentor estimators and PM development candidates ranging from senior estimators to trainees.Team player with ability to collaborate with a wide variety of personnel both internal and externalAbility to work with tight deadlines and thrive under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanorExpert knowledge of electrical estimating with the ability to anticipate pricing issues and the ability to provide value engineering guidanceThorough knowledge of the electrical industry with general knowledge of mechanical, civil, and other specialty tradesAbility to incorporate the National Electrical Code, building codes, and OSHA requirements into estimatesDesire to build relationships with key stakeholders involved with the estimating process and actively participates in industry, client, and community relationsStrong conceptual estimating skillsAbility to identify process improvement opportunities and lead initiatives to implement changeDetail-oriented with the ability to communicate clearly and conciselyBS Degree in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred but not required10+ years electrical contracting or construction experience8+ years electrical estimating experience3+ years senior management or executive level experienceKnowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsProficient with AccubidAbility to visit jobsites and interact with field personnelHandle physical aspects of job: standing, sitting, lifting up to 40 lbsKnowledge of Local Market and its principle general contractsWE OFFERStable employment401K Program with matchingMedical, Dental and Life benefitsAdvancement opportunities for outstanding performersFSG is an EEO /Affirmative Action Employer: All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status.
