Job Description:Job Description:Position OverviewBeth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) seeks an accomplished and forward-thinking physician-leader to serve as Chief of the Division of Allergy and Immunology within the Department of Medicine. Reporting directly to the Chair of Medicine, the Division Chief will provide strategic, clinical, research, and administrative leadership to advance a nationally recognized Allergy program.This is an opportunity to shape and grow a multidisciplinary program that integrates cutting-edge research, exceptional clinical care, and innovative education within a leading academic medical center affiliated with Harvard Medical School.Appointment as Professor at the Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training, and achievements in addition to teaching activities.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership & ExcellenceOversee and enhance delivery of high-quality, patient-centered Allergy care across inpatient and outpatient settingsExpand ambulatory, inpatient consultative, and specialty clinical programs across the Beth Israel Lahey Health system.Promote best practices, quality improvement, and patient safety initiativesResearch & Academic Development· Lead and grow a robust allergy and Immunological research portfolio, including clinical trials, translational research, and collaborative initiativesRecruit, mentor, and support faculty in research productivity and academic advancementFoster partnerships across BIDMC, Harvard-affiliated institutions, and industry collaboratorsAdministrative & Strategic Leadership· Provide operational oversight of the division, including budgeting, staffing, and program developmentDevelop and execute a strategic vision aligned with departmental and institutional prioritiesCollaborate closely with departmental leadership and hospital administrationEducation & Mentorship· Support education of medical students, residents, fellows, and allied health professionalsDevelop fellowship programsServe as a mentor and role model for faculty and traineesCollaboration & Program Growth Build strong interdisciplinary collaborations with other departmentsIdentify opportunities to expand clinical and research programsQualificationsMD or MD/PhD with board certification in Internal Medicine or Pediatrics and board certification/eligibility in Allergy and Immunology.Eligibility for medical licensure in MassachusettsEstablished record of clinical excellence and academic achievementDemonstrated leadership experience in an academic medical center or comparable environmentStrong track record in research, including peer-reviewed funding and publicationsProven administrative and organizational skillsCommitment to collaboration, mentorship, and program developmentPreferred Attributes· Visionary leadership with the ability to grow and innovate an Allergy and Immunology programExperience leading multidisciplinary teams and complex clinical operationsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsInterest in building partnerships across institutions and disciplinesApplication ProcessInterested candidates should submit a CV and a letter of interest outlining their vision for the division, leadership experience, and academic accomplishments to Mark Zeidel, MD, Chair of Medicine.This role is well-suited for a leader who values collaboration, innovation, and growth—and is eager to build a premier Allergy program within a dynamic academic environment.Beth Israel Deaconess Medical CenterA 743-bed hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center, is a founding member of Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH). HMFP physicians have faculty affiliations with Harvard Medical School (HMS) and provide care throughout BILH system and additional hospitals across Massachusetts.Pay Range:$250,000 - $400,000The base pay range reflects what Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (HMFP) reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation within this range may be determined based on several factors, including academic appointment, work experience, specialty training, geography of work location, anticipated productivity, FTE basis, and role expectations. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which may include bonuses for productivity and quality HMFP also offers a comprehensive and generous employee benefits program to eligible employees, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as retirement plan(s) with employer contributions.
