Chemical OperatorAMVAC is looking for experienced Chemical Operators! The Chemical Operator is responsible for the operation, inspection, troubleshooting and maintenance of the chemical production unit for AMVAC's Axis manufacturing plant. The Chemical Operator oversees the safe and environmentally sustainable operation of plant assets.AMVAC, an American Vanguard company, successfully serves global markets through development, manufacturing and marketing of products for agricultural and commercial use.

This position is on-site at the Axis, Alabama location and requires working nights and weekends. Immediate hiring!Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesInspect, adjust, monitor, operate and repair plant equipment and systemsReport plant conditions to supervisors and plant personnel verbally and in writingConduct chemical instrument readings and make adjustments as necessaryComplete and maintain accurate records and filesObserve all plant safety rules; perform assigned tasks in safe manner and be alert to unsafe conditionsConduct lab samples pulls as neededOperate Vent Gas Incinerator (VGI), Chillers, and Cooling TowerProcess effluent through DCS (Distributor Control Systems)Assist mechanical & electrical maintenance and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) activitiesWork rotating shift to accommodate plant 24-hour; 7 day a week coverageParticipate in Emergency Response Team training and activitiesComply and ensure compliance with all regulatory safety and environmental requirementsComply and ensure compliance with all company policies, practices and lawful directivesPerform other duties as assigned / required to maintain a safe environmentSkills & Qualifications2+ years' experience working as a Synthesis Operator or Chemical Operator at a specialty chemical manufacturing plantAbility to read and understand P&ID'sExperience performing minor maintenance safely and in a timely mannerMust be forklift certifiablePhysically meet the needs of the job to include, climbing stairs, wearing respiratory protection, and safely lifting at least 50 poundsStrong oral and written communication skillsAble to work as a team member as well as independentlyMust be prompt, dependable and have a good attendance recordMust participate in the Safety monthly blood draw programThis position requires the ability to participate in the respiratory program which includes being clean shaven and able to wear a respiratorMust be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug test and criminal background checkEducationHigh School diploma or equivalency RequiredVocational or technical degree preferred40 hour HAZWOPER* preferredFirefight Certification | AIDT Training a plus!*Required training offered by AMVACAMVAC Offers:Full benefits available including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance starting at under $5 a week (individual) / $66 a month (family)Life and AD&D insurance including $25,000 life insurance policy at no cost to youRoth and Traditional 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan available with 5% company match - dollar for dollarESPP (Employee Stock Purchasing Plan) available - purchase company stock at a discount rateVacation, Holiday & Sick pay & MoreShift differentialAMVAC is proud to be an EEO/AA employer M/F/DN.
