Job Description: Medical Biller/ Collector Specialist

Location: Sandy Springs / Hybrid role (2-3 days/week in office once trained)

Pay: 21-25 /hr depending on years of experience

Hours: Monday-Friday, normal business hours

Responsibilities

• Manage follow-up claim queues for assigned clients and organize daily workload accordingly.
• Follow-up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timelines using payer websites or by calling the payer.
• Research and appeal denied claims with insurance and government payers. Effectively communicate status of claims by utilizing practice management software to track claim status and notes.
• Respond to account manager inquiries regarding claim follow-up status, appropriately documenting all actions taken for client review.
• Support patient service representatives by occasionally providing backup phone coverage for incoming patient calls.
• Organize and manage workload efficiently, effectively, and independently.

Qualifications

• Two-to-four years established success in an insurance follow up role.
• Healthcare industry background, laboratory environment preferred.
• An understanding of CPT and diagnosis (ICD-10) codes.
• Certified coding background, certification, or relevant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of payer websites with ability to expertly maneuver the various sites.
• Experience with practice management software, Allscripts products preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Attention to detail.
• Integrity and honesty above reproach.
• Able to thrive in a small, informally structured, fast-paced, entrepreneurial group.
