Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) are seeking a Chair of the Department of Medicine to lead its largest department, comprising 14 subspecialties and over 320 providers. This leadership role is within a nationally recognized, integrated health system, emphasizing physician leadership through a dyad model. The successful candidate will shape the future of academic medicine by integrating clinical care, education, and research.

• Lead the largest department within Carilion Clinic, encompassing 14 subspecialties and 320+ providers
• Serve nearly 1 million Virginians in a leading not-for-profit system
• Lead within a 703-bed Level I Trauma Center (Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital)
• Engage in shared governance of the medical school and the dean's leadership team to inform policy and strategic decision-making

Responsibilities

• Lead the Department of Medicine
• Lead clinical strategy and operations across a large, diverse department
• Lead the growth of academic programs in partnership with Virginia Tech & the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute
• Shape a strong integration of clinical care, education, and research

Compensation

• Competitive salary with incentive tied to productivity and quality criteria
• Min Starting Salary: $395,000
• Max Starting Salary: $600,000
• Eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs to improve the minimum salary
• Relocation Paid: Yes, allowance
