In a solar company, the CFO plays a critical role in project finance, cash flow management, tax incentives (ITC), regulatory compliance, and supporting scalable growth.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute the company's financial strategy aligned with business goals and growth plansServe as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive leadership teamProvide financial insights to support decision-making, investments, and expansionFinancial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planningAnalyze financial performance, margins, and project profitabilityPrepare financial models for solar projects, acquisitions, and financingProject Finance & Capital ManagementLead solar project financing, including debt, equity, tax equity, and PPA structuresManage relationships with banks, investors, tax equity partners, and lendersOptimize cash flow across construction, installation, and interconnection phasesAccounting & ComplianceEnsure accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and regulatory standardsOversee accounting, payroll, AP/AR, and internal controlsManage audits, tax filings, and financial risk managementTax Credits & IncentivesOversee federal, state, and local solar incentives, including the Investment Tax Credit (ITC)Ensure proper documentation and compliance for incentive programsCoordinate with tax advisors and legal counselOperational & Cost ManagementMonitor installation costs, labor, materials, and overhead to maintain profitabilityImplement systems and processes to improve financial efficiencySupport pricing strategy and contract reviewTeam & Systems LeadershipBuild and manage the finance, accounting, and payroll teamsOversee financial systems, ERP software, and reporting toolsEstablish scalable processes to support company growthQualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)8–15+ years of progressive financial leadership experienceExperience in solar, renewable energy, construction, or project-based industries strongly preferredStrong knowledge of project finance, tax equity, and capital structuresProven experience managing cash flow in a high-growth environmentSkills & CompetenciesStrategic thinker with strong analytical and leadership skillsDeep understanding of solar economics and regulatory environmentExcellent communication and executive presenceHigh integrity, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilityAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving industry
