Job Description
Title: Certified Water Distribution Operator
Location: Idaho Falls, ID
Duration: FTE - Permanent
JOB SUMMARY
Works under general supervision performing a variety of skilled tasks pertaining to the installation, operation and maintenance of a water, while continuing to gain the education and skills needed to achieve an Idaho Class 3 Water Distribution Certification.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Compile records and reportsin accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations.
  • Analyze and conductmathematical calculations following laboratory procedures to makeadjustments in the operation of a water facility.
  • Provide effectivecommunication with management and/or other operators on the technicallevel required of this position.
  • Conform to all safetypolicies and participate in specialized training for the safe handling ofhazardous materials and confined space entry.
  • Assist in all aspects ofutility construction including, but not limited to, excavation, shoring,laying and testing of water lines.
  • Efficiently operate all typesof equipment used in a water field including but not limited to backhoes,dump trucks, forklifts, loaders, sewer flushing truck, mini excavator, vactrailer and tractors.
  • Participate in the design andplanning of new and existing water projects.
  • *Compliance with all Stateand Federal rules and regulations pertaining to the operation andmaintenance of a water facility.
  • Performs repair andmaintenance on all water apparatus, including structures and grounds.
  • Comply with all Companypolicies, procedures and safety regulations and culture.
  • Comply with Company groomingand uniform policy.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
  • *High school education orequivalent.
  • Valid Idaho CDL drivers'license, with a tanker endorsement and air brake endorsements. (Must haveor be able to obtain within 1 year of date of hire)
  • Must be able to safely lift aminimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to physicallyaccommodate and use respirators and self-contained breathing apparatuses
  • Must be physically able toaccess and egress trenches, manholes and lift stations as well as waterreservoirs and towers.
  • *Must have a Class IICertification in one of the water/wastewater fields, i.e. WaterDistribution, Wastewater Collections, or Wastewater Treatment.
  • *Achieve 6 hours per year ofaccredited training pertaining to the water/wastewater field.
  • Must be able to accommodate aweekend or variable shift and/or be on 24-hour emergency call whenassigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The working environment will vary from extreme outdoor conditions to indoor job duties.Safety procedures must always be followed, as worker will continually be exposed to hazardous materials, confined space, electrical components and heavy equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, sewer flushing and transporting vehicles.Worker must be in a physical condition that will allow him or her access into sewer manholes and any number of holding tanks and basins in a water/wastewater plant.
