Job TitleSterile Processing TechnicianJob DescriptionProvides services in the decontamination and sterile processing areas whenever monitoring of sterilizers is needed. Collaborates with OR staff to provide sterile instruments and equipment needed for operative procedures. Assists with ongoing inventory of sterile supplies, equipment, schedule completion and communication for the department. Position performs duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision.ResponsibilitiesDecontaminates, cleans and processes items according to established standards. Utilizes equipment in the sterile processing environment according to manufacturer's guidelines. Inspects and correctly assembles instrument trays replacing broken or lost instruments as needed. Maintains power equipment according to established standards. Performs sterility assurance testing to meet regulatory requirements. Completes documentation of the sterilization process accurately to meet regulatory standards and provide tracking mechanisms. Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned.QualificationsSpecial Skills: Ability to read in English to follow oral and/or written instructions. Must perform repetitive duties on a daily basis, be detail minded and organized. Must be self-motivated and able to coordinate and prioritize workload in order to complete work and meet daily deadlines. Ability to adapt to changes in workload and flexibility to adjust work scheduled as assigned. Ability to communicate effectively with customers. Knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques. Thorough knowledge of instrumentation, equipment and supplies.Minimum Requirements: Education: High school or equivalent preferred to enable individual to follow oral or written instruction in English.

Experience: One year of central sterile, decontamination or sterile processing.
