Wics Project ManagerThe Department of Corrections, Division of Management Services, is recruiting for a WICS Project Manager position. This position will be 100% remote, with occasional visits to our central office at 3099 E. Washington Ave., Madison, WI (Dane County).This position is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and configuring projects related to the support of the DOC’s Application Development WICS team. The PM will play the role of steward to the WICS Team.
WICS is the Department of Corrections offender management tool utilized by DOC users to track and monitor persons in our care. This position serves as a member of the WICS Team staff, which includes Department employees from the Bureau of Technology Management and staff from the other program divisions. This position works closely with the working group to help identify areas of optimization and improved business processes for workflows within WICS. This position will also manage numerous project initiatives for effective WICS optimizations and upgrades.The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants before selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant offered employment in a position requiring a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to the job. Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employment.This position may be offered to a candidate authorized to work in the US for his/her/their stated employer, without any restrictions which would prevent the candidate from working on the proposed assignment for the duration of the assignment period.Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:Managing all projects related to software, maintenance/bug fixes, and upgrades.Communicating software changes with stakeholders.Working with stakeholders to identify process improvements and optimizations.Ability to lead and conduct virtual meetings with teams.Experience in managing large scale projects.Experienced and able to communicate effectively with development team and business users.Experience in project scheduling and doing phase gates.Worked as Scrum master and experience in Agile project methodology. CSM certified (optional).Able to handle change management.Worked with schedule and Gann charts online.Manage daily standups and requirements backlog.In addition to the above, well-qualified applicants will have experience:Experience in Agile and waterfall project methodologiesWorking in a government or correctional environment.Experience with MS projects.Existing knowledge of Offender Management Systems (WICS).
