Certified Peer Support Worker

Our commitment to care includes developing integrated delivery systems through partnerships with medical surgical hospitals, community mental health centers, educational institutions, managed care organizations, local health professionals and agencies.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Peer Support Worker will use their lived experience with substance use and recovery to support, mentor and advocate for patients navigating care for substance use disorders and mental health. Connecting patients to community-based programs to improve their recovery and/or harm reduction, health and general well-being through education and provision of resources through explanation of programs, coordination of care and services. Screens patients as related to substance use disorder/history of overdose and link patients to community resources that will assist with those needs. Works collaboratively and effectively within an interdisciplinary team within the community. Establishes positive and supportive relationships with participants and provides feedback to other members of the team. Builds and maintains positive working relationships with clients, providers and clinical staff. Works to reduce cultural and socio-economic barriers between clients and institutions. Available to work flexible schedule, ability to drive and meet MVH MVR driving requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: High School Degree/GED Required and two years of work experience. Must have a current valid driver's license and Certified Peer Support Worker Certificate. Skills: Maintain timely and accurate documentation, Ability to demonstrate Service Excellence, Ability to remain professional in emergency situations.
