Working remotely in a permanent position, the Certified Outpatient Coder will be responsible for accurately assigning medical codes for outpatient encounters, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and facilitating proper claims submissions. Key responsibilities Review and analyze outpatient medical records to abstract diagnoses, procedures, and services accurately Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with official coding guidelines Collaborate with the revenue cycle team to address coding-related claim denials and clarify documentation with healthcare providers Required qualifications Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification is required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related field is preferred Minimum of 3 years of outpatient medical coding experience Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and coding software
