Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
Provides therapeutic educational programs for the students.
Valid Texas Certificate issued by the Board of OT Examiners.
Assists in planning and developing therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant and will be used in the student's educational program.
Assists to facilitate in-service education and professional development for related service/Occupational Therapy.
Assists to administer formal and informal assessment instruments for students referred to/ who receive Special Education services.
Attends ARD meetings as requested by supervising OT.
Assists to facilitate development and implementation of individual education plans in consultation with teacher(s) and supervising OT.
Collaborate with supervising OT to confer with parents, teachers, and students and/or principals for the purpose of reviewing therapy intervention procedures and student progress no less than once a year per student.
Assists the student in acquiring those functional performance skills needed to participate in and benefit from the educational environment, and to help the student function independently.
Obtain data for the purpose of progress monitoring of students focusing on areas of need at intervals determined to be educationally relevant.
Strives to improve therapeutic skills through self-initiated professional development activities.
Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during regular business hours to confer with district personnel.
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job responsibility unless instructed to work from home by supervisor. Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Usage of personal equipment, including but not limited to personal cellular phone, personal computer, and personal internet service when working from home during a District closure due to government or Board order or during an emergency affecting normal District operations.
Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor. All employees are expected to comply with lawful directives.
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to instruct; maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Regular district-wide travel; moderate lifting and carrying. Some bending, lifting and stooping while performing job related functions.
