Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Certified Inpatient Coder will code medical information into billing systems, ensuring accurate assignment of diagnoses and compliance with coding guidelines across multiple facilities. Key responsibilities Codes inpatient medical records, including major traumas and NICU records, using ICD and ICD-PCS codes Ensures appropriate assignment of diagnoses present on admission (POA) indicators and verifies DRG assignments Reviews work queues for coding prioritization and follows up on on-hold accounts for final coding Required qualifications Certification Program or Associate degree or Coding Certificate through AHIMA or an approved coding certification program Three years of coding experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting, with inpatient coding experience preferred Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) certification Familiarity with EPIC health information systems is preferred Successful completion of the IP Coder Associate program may be considered in lieu of education and experience requirements
