- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in proper working order.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or any damage to the vehicle promptly.
- Verify all load-related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain logs of working hours, vehicle service/repair status, and comply with state and federal regulations.
- Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, following signals from the loading crew and ensuring proper placement of the vehicle and equipment.
- Use lift equipment to load outbound freight safely and efficiently.
- Perform material handling tasks when not actively engaged in deliveries.
- Follow all company policies, safety regulations, and transportation laws.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
- High School Diploma or (GED or High School Equivalency Certificate).
- 1+ years of commercial driving experience.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Ability to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) certification requirements.
- Proven track record of safe and satisfactory driving.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.
- Effective time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency in forklift operation and material handling equipment.
- This position requires long hours of driving and time on the road, often under varying weather conditions.
- Drivers may be exposed to loud noises, dust, and other environmental factors at loading docks and job sites.
- Physical demands include lifting and securing heavy loads, climbing in and out of the truck, and prolonged sitting while driving.
- Work schedules may include nights, weekends, and holidays depending on business needs.
- Must be able to work independently and adhere to all safety regulations and protocols.
