Cardiac Cath Lab Tech (Reg/Cert) - Fulltime Days

Responsibilities

The Cardiac Cath Lab Technician assists Technologists, Technicians, and Physicians in performing radiologic, paramedical, hemodynamic, therapeutic, and clerical duties required in patient care. Duties include:

  • Administer medications commonly used in the Cardiovascular Lab under direct physician supervision.
  • Perform routine procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Demonstrate awareness of radiation safety procedures and wear protective equipment.
  • Monitor procedures and use specialized equipment accurately.
  • Assist the physician in emergency response management.
  • Perform tasks accurately and timely during critical situations.
  • Use accessories to enhance image quality.
  • Monitor patient hemodynamics and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Recognize EKG tracing changes and respond per protocol.
  • Function as a Scrub Tech during Cardiac Cath procedures, observe sterile field guidelines, and adhere to infection control policies.
  • Maintain and monitor sedation measurements per policy.
  • Remove catheters and sheaths and monitor homeostasis per protocol.
  • Assist in Quality Control and Preventive Maintenance documentation.
  • Document required information for Cardiac Cath Lab, hospital, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor supplies on the crash cart and assist in inventory stocking.
  • Transport patients and ensure proper coverage and assessment.
  • Handle telephone information requests with courtesy and confidentiality.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all data, records, reports, and related information.
  • Provide procedural education to patients and record this in the chart.
  • Deliver patient care appropriate for the patient’s age.
  • Utilize physiological monitoring and recording apparatus during special procedures.
  • Ensure patient charges are properly recorded and billed.
  • Prepare room, equipment, contrast media, and materials for procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, well‑stocked, and safe working environment; test equipment prior to use.
  • Warm equipment daily and ensure proper operation.
  • Perform sponge count before and after pacemaker procedures.
  • As a member of the on‑call team, report within 30 minutes for a call.
  • Review departmental manuals annually and attend mandatory in‑service trainings.
  • Attend staff meetings unless excused.
  • Practice patient care according to ARMC policy.

Qualifications

Registered CVT, Registered CIS or Registered RT; BCLS certified, ACLS certified within one year of hire.

Education requirements: Registered CVT, Registered CIS, or Registered RT; BCLS and ACLS certifications required.

Work experience requirements: Ability to perform under stress, act independently, and maintain confidence without specific instructions.

Required licenses/certifications: Licensed by the LLR or SCRQS for the appropriate registered license.

Required skills, knowledge and abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills; work well with physicians, nursing staff, technologists, support personnel, patients and families.
