Casualty Underwriter

A growing specialty insurance organization is seeking an experienced Excess Casualty Underwriter to join its underwriting team. This position focuses on building and managing a profitable portfolio of non-construction excess casualty business while developing strong broker partnerships and contributing to continued organizational growth.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal Excess Casualty accounts.
• Evaluate complex commercial risks and determine appropriate pricing, terms, and conditions.
• Manage broker and agency relationships to drive new business production.
• Analyze account performance and portfolio profitability.
• Collaborate with internal underwriting, claims, and leadership teams.
• Identify growth opportunities within target industries and geographic territories.
• Maintain underwriting discipline while achieving production goals.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Commercial Casualty or Excess Casualty underwriting experience.
• Strong understanding of casualty coverages, risk analysis, and policy structure.
• Experience underwriting middle-market and/or large commercial accounts.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain broker relationships.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• E&S market experience is preferred but not required.
