Cash Applications Specialist

Cash Application SpecialistMediaNews Group is looking for a Cash Application Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for applying cash against open Accounts Receivable (A/R) for advertising and circulation accounts, as well as assisting with account research, A/R reporting and aging, and other accounting tasks as needed.Please note this is an onsite position in our Willoughby Hills, OH office.What you will do:Key Mavro and Run the lockbox to Advertising interfacesWork error reports from interfaces (such as from the lockbox)Apply payments that were identified as exceptions from the lockbox operationPerform account research on A/R balances to provide advertisers with statements and account historyProcess any manual cash applicationsReconcile bank receipts to the Accounts Receivable balancesCritical customer service support to sales organization and outside customersPrepare and submit balance write-offsWork misapplied/unapplied balances. Research account balances to correct issuesField questions from sales organization on open balances and accounts on credit holdComplete credit card, lockbox, and e-lockbox processesUse and maintain A/R collections module in Circulation System(s)Perform daily cash balancing and reconciliation including three-way match: system, bank, and general ledgerSupport Collections when account questions ariseWhat you will bring:Accounting process and controls knowledgeHigh attention to detail and proficient with 10-keyAbility to read and comprehend written instructions (including process, policy and procedures manuals), correspondence, and financial documentsAble to write and organize correspondence (generally in e-mail)Ability to hear, comprehend and speak clearly when communicating information and instructions in conversations with other employees and vendorsDemonstrated ability to create Excel spreadsheets using formulas as neededCapable of solving practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization existsStrong analytical skills, team collaboration skills, and interpersonal skillsThe minimum education required to be considered for this position is a GED or high school diploma, an Associate's degree is preferredBenefits and Compensation:The hourly range is $18.00 - $18.50 + a one time $500 sign on bonus. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc.
