Cash Application Specialist

Robert Half’s Full-Time Engagement Professionals Practice is looking for a Cash Application Specialist to join our DC-based team.

Our Full-Time Engagement Professionals work with clients across a variety of accounting and finance environments, supporting critical processes in accounts receivable, cash management, and reporting. What you get to do every day

• Apply daily cash receipts accurately and timely to customer accounts. Based on general knowledge.
• Research and resolve unapplied cash, short payments, overpayments, and payment discrepancies. Based on general knowledge.
• Reconcile lockbox, ACH, wire, and credit card payments to the accounts receivable subledger. Based on general knowledge.
• Monitor customer remittance activity and ensure proper posting of payments. Based on general knowledge.
• Partner with accounts receivable, billing, and customer service teams to resolve payment-related issues. Based on general knowledge.
• Prepare and maintain cash application reports, aging support, and account documentation. Based on general knowledge.
• Assist with month-end close by reconciling cash application activity and supporting general ledger accuracy. Based on general knowledge.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank activity and customer account balances. Based on general knowledge.
• Support credit and collections teams with account research as needed. Based on general knowledge.
• Identify opportunities to improve cash posting efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls. Based on general knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Based on general knowledge.
• 2+ years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or general accounting required. Based on general knowledge.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, Intacct, or similar platforms. Based on general knowledge.
• Intermediate Excel skills, including reconciliations, lookup functions, and data analysis. Based on general knowledge.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to resolve discrepancies in a high-volume environment. Based on general knowledge.
• Self-driven professional who takes initiative and works well in dynamic, changing environments. Based on general knowledge.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across teams. Based on general knowledge.
