Carpentry Assistant / Shop Helper - Port Allen
$15-20/HR Depending on Experience
Monday-Friday 7 am - 4 pm.
Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is hiring a Fabrication Shop Helper for a local manufacturing company in Port Allen.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES for Carpentry Assistant / Shop Helper:

• Perform basic carpentry work installing decking
• Use tape measures, saws, and hand tools to cut wood to required lengths and install the decking
• Assist Fabricators and welders with daily shop tasks
• Cut, grind, clean, and prep metal materials
• Operate basic hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
• load/unload materials and help with staging jobs
• Support the assembly and installation of safety systems as needed
• Follow all company safety protocols and procedures

Skills and Experience REQUIRED:

• Must be able to lift to 50 lbs
• Must be able to read a tape measure and perform carpentry work such as cutting wood components.
• Must be able to consistently lift heavy materials and be on feet for extended periods
• Must have steel-toed boots before starting
• Must be on time every day
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
