Carpenter (UN)Salary Range $1.00 - $1.00 HourlyJob Title: Carpenter ConstructionDepartment: Base Operations & MaintenanceJob Summary:An individual with great hand dexterity and an eye for detail. The ideal candidate will also have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential.

The goal is to contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting buildings and products.Duties/Responsibilities:Carpenters are responsible for structural repairs and painting interior and exterior surfaces of residential or commercial buildings using different materialsThis includes framing, stripping old paint, preparation work for the surfaces, applying filler, using power and hand tools to sand surfaces for further finishing and paintingTake measurements and calculate the size and amount of material neededBuild window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed itemsCarve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items and install them where designatedInspect places and conduct repairs or maintenanceBuilding scaffolding and other construction structuresRequired Skills/Abilities:Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and sketchesProficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)Good understanding of basic mathEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalentSuccessful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program is requiredMinimum of 5 years experience in the construction industryExcellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and constructionPhysical Requirements:Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with handsOccasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noisesAbility to lift up to 75 pounds at timesAbility to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessaryAbility to hear and see to position and safety requirement levelsOccasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicalsSpecial Qualifications/Requirements:Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's backgroundMust be able to successfully pass HSPD-12 Clearance/ Federal Background CheckEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities
