Job Description:
In this role, you will perform specialized carpentry-related repairs and maintenance at City facilities. In addition, you will receive and process work orders and maintain records of work.
Examples of Duties:
- Performs maintenance and repairs on various types of City owned facilities and equipment, specializing in carpentry.
- Builds, repairs, and installs counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, roofing, building framework, and trim.
- Installs glass in windows, doors, and partitions. Replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor tile, and wall coverings.
- Installs and repairs door hardware.
- Operates specialized equipment and tools related to the trade discipline.
- May lead the work of maintenance crews at the worksite, ensuring that the work is performed safely and efficiently.
- Receives work orders, prioritizes and distributes them according to division procedures.
- Estimates project materials from blueprints and purchases necessary supplies.
- Maintains records of all work performed.
- Works extended hours, as necessary, during shutdowns of equipment and/or buildings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and 4 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid South Carolina driver's license.
- Ability to perform work order management through smart phone, tablet and/or computer.
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needs.
