Job Title: Lead Carpenter / Mechanic – Commercial Interiors Job Description
This role leads and performs commercial interior construction work with a strong focus on cold-formed metal framing, drywall installation and finishing, RF foil systems, and acoustical ceiling systems. The Lead Carpenter / Mechanic independently executes complex layout and installation tasks while coordinating closely with project management, superintendents, subcontractors, and other trades to deliver high-quality interior buildouts in a secure and highly professional environment.
Responsibilities

Perform accurate layout and installation of 16-gauge cold-formed metal framing systems for commercial interior projects.

Oversee and perform drywall hanging, taping, finishing, and punch-list completion to meet quality and schedule requirements.

Install RF foil and other specialty wall and ceiling assemblies in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.

Install acoustical ceiling tile (ACT) grid systems and ceiling tiles, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and finish.

Review and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and project schedules to plan and execute daily work.

Coordinate daily work activities with project management, superintendents, subcontractors, and other trades to maintain workflow and resolve field issues.

Verify that materials, tools, and equipment needed for framing, drywall, and ceiling work are available and properly used.

Inspect completed work for adherence to drawings, specifications, and quality expectations, and correct deficiencies as needed.

Support safe work practices on site by following jobsite rules and procedures and promoting an organized, professional work area.
Essential Skills

At least 5 years of commercial carpentry experience.

Extensive experience with cold-formed metal framing, including layout and installation of 16-gauge systems.

Proficiency in drywall hanging, taping, finishing, and completing punch-list items on commercial interior projects.

Extensive experience installing acoustical ceiling systems (ACT), including grid and tile installation.

Hands-on experience with commercial interior buildout projects, from framing through finishes.

Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and project schedules.

Strong coordination skills to work effectively with project management, superintendents, subcontractors, and other trades.

Solid carpentry skills in interior construction environments, including framing, drywall, and ceiling installation.

Work Environment
This role is based on a jobsite at the Pentagon, providing a unique and highly professional work setting. The schedule runs from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday, offering steady daytime hours. Work focuses on commercial interior construction, including cold-formed metal framing, drywall, RF foil, and acoustical ceiling systems, and is expected to continue through November. The environment is field-based and hands-on, requiring regular use of standard carpentry and construction tools and adherence to jobsite rules, safety practices, and professional conduct.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $37.00/hr.
