Maintenance Carpenter

Salary based on documented and verified experience: $27,216 - $33,184

Primary Purpose:

Completes maintenance carpentry projects assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Graduate or hold a GED Certificate.
  2. Experience in the field of work is preferred.
  3. Ability to lift 50 lbs. As needed throughout a workday.
  4. Have an acceptable driving record to standards developed by the Department of Public Safety and the Texas Education Agency (10 point system).

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Assist with all the installation of flooring and tile materials in District facilities.
  2. Keep an inventory of assigned tools, vehicles and building supplies.
  3. To maintain safety standards when operating equipment.
  4. To work cooperatively with other departments in maintaining school properties.
  5. To requisition and order, in the proper manner, necessary supplies and materials.
  6. Assist carpenter when needed.
  7. To assist other departments with manpower as needed.
  8. Perform other job-related duties and functions assigned by supervisor.

Equipment Used:

Uses power tools, hand tools, air tools, step ladders, jack hammers, shovel, scaffolds, dollies, airlift ladder.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands:

Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing, heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, some stooping, bending, kneeling.

Environment:

Work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders.
