Felony Prosecutor

This position is responsible for prosecuting felony cases in General Sessions Court.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Case preparation – preparing the case for trial or negotiating the plea, taking depositions, interviewing the client, negotiating with other attorneys involved, coordinating the efforts of investigators and paralegals to ensure the details of the case are completely vetted and the documentation thorough and accurate.
  • Case trial – handling a full case load of warrants for prosecution, trying cases in the General Session Court, and the preferred outcome is a guilty verdict, or a plea that can be successfully negotiated.
  • Managerial duties – assigning cases to assistant solicitors, answering legal questions as they arise.

Physical requirements of the job include lifting, driving, ability to travel, etc.

Typical qualifications include:

  • JD and passing SC bar exam
  • Minimum 10 years practicing with trial experience
  • 14 hours CLE per year
