A warm, close-knit family in Palo Alto is looking for a career nanny to join their rota team and care for their 2 year old son. This is a hands-on, child-first role for someone who loves the energy of the toddler years, is happiest on the floor or out exploring, and brings real joy to the everyday rhythm of a young child's life.
The family sees their nanny as a true partner. They want someone who communicates openly, takes initiative, and works alongside them to raise a happy, secure, curious little boy. Their home follows Montessori and RIE principles, and emphasizes kind, consistent boundaries. Their son will begin a play-based 2s program in fall 2027, and they would love someone who will grow with him through this stage and beyond.
If you are a career nanny who rolls with the unpredictability of little ones, shows up fully on the easy days and the hard ones, and sees this work as a calling rather than just a job, this role was written with you in mind.
What You'll Do
- Provide warm, attentive, sole-charge care for a 2 year old as part of a rota nanny team
- Keep days active and engaging with play, outdoor time, movement, and hands-on exploration
- Support a Montessori and RIE-inspired home: respectful care, independent play, and a screen-free environment
- Hold kind, consistent boundaries in partnership with the parents
- Manage sleep routines, feeding, and healthy daily habits, including potty training when the time comes
- Prepare simple, nutritious meals and snacks
- Keep the nursery, child laundry, and supplies organized
- Drive or accompany the child to classes, outings, playdates, and appointments
- Communicate proactively with the parents and the rota team to ensure smooth handoffs and consistency across caregivers
- Adapt with a flexible, can-do attitude when plans change, as they often do with young children
What We're Looking For
- A career nanny mindset: warm, hands-on, physically energetic, and genuinely child-first
- Strong sole-charge experience with infants and toddlers
- Long-term tenures with previous families, ideally 3+ years per position
- References who can speak to your reliability, especially on the hard days
- A collaborative, communicative approach and a view of yourself as a partner to the parents
- Flexibility and comfort with the unpredictability of young children
- A whatever-the-day-needs approach to the role, rather than a focus on rigid terms or a narrow scope
- Comfort with Montessori/RIE principles, screen-free care, and kind, consistent boundaries
- Rota nanny experience and/or local to the Bay Area strongly preferred
- Education in Montessori, RIE, ECE, or a similar approach is a welcome bonus but not required; the family will sponsor Montessori/RIE training for the right candidate
- CPR/First Aid certified with a clean driving record
- Willingness to travel occasionally as needed
Schedule: This role follows a two-weeks-on, two-weeks-off rotation, with full-time, live-in care provided throughout each rotation.
Compensation: $50-$75/hr based on experience, plus benefits.
