Job Description Summary
Under limited supervision, the Cardiovascular Technologist I assists physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease in an invasive procedure arena specializing in the care of patients undergoing basic diagnostic catheterization and interventional procedures. This role functions as a resource to staff.

Job Duties
- Performs scrub duties and related procedures for cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization, and right and left heart catheterization with no assistance.
- Performs scrub duties and related procedures for peripheral diagnostics or interventions with minimal assistance.
- Ability to scrub, gown, glove and set up back table with necessary equipment.
- Records cardiac interventions with accuracy, monitors procedure, and documents inventory used and order of events appropriately in MacLab event log. Requires only occasional minimal assistance.
- Maintains ECG set up and rhythm monitoring.
- Maintains basic hemodynamic set up and waveform monitoring.
- Assists in preparation of room with fellow staff members for safe, effective care of patient.
- Performs required checks on all safety equipment.
- Ensures adequate supplies present to perform procedures.
- Transports patients alone or accompanied by a fellow staff member.
Required License, Certification and Registration
RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or RT(R)CI certification required within the first 2 years of hire and must be maintained. If applicable, American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Act (SCRQSA) also required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within three (3) months of hire and thereafter maintained.
Minimum Experience And Training Requirements
0‑6 months work experience. Graduation from an accredited Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program; or equivalent education and/or experience and RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or RT(R)CI certification required; or graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology and one year of radiologic experience. Telemetry and Arterial and Venous Sheath Removal experience preferred. Copy of academic degree or transcript required.
