Overview

Cardiovascular RN opportunity at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital , part of HCA Healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the cardiologist in performing Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
  • Perform Direct Current Cardioversions.
  • Facilitate and execute Pharmacological Stress Echocardiograms in conjunction with the Chest Pain Nursing staff.
  • Act as patient advocate, exhibiting knowledge of procedural preparation and contraindications.
  • Maintain steady productivity and demonstrate initiative and responsibility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Echocardiographic procedural areas and conscious sedation.
  • Perform pre‑procedure assessment and reassessment as needed post‑procedure.
  • Establish and maintain IV lines as determined by specialty.
  • Apply knowledge of medications and IV fluids for correct administration based on patient age and condition.
  • Provide patient explanations and verbal reassurance; formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Communicate appropriately and clearly with supervisors, coworkers, and physicians.
  • Consult with other departments to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and families.
  • Meet documentation standards and policies; complete daily work shift documentation.
  • Accurately interpret continuous EKG and cardiac monitoring; identify dysrhythmias.
  • Identify physical symptoms and changes; take appropriate action in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the procedure room, including patient preparation, positioning, draping, and recording vital signs.
  • Demonstrate aseptic technique and practice.
  • Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly.
  • Safely administer physician‑ordered medications.

Qualifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Education: Master’s, Bachelor’s, or Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
  • At least one year of experience in cardiovascular or cardiac care.
  • No travel required.
