Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (Night Shift)

We are seeking anexperienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join ourCardiothoracic Surgery team in Rapid City, South Dakota. This night-shift roleprovides a unique balance of professional autonomy and strong physiciansupport, caring for post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients inboth the ICU and inpatient ward settings.

Schedule:

NightShift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 168 Shifts Annually |14 shifts per month

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage 3–6 critically illpost-operative cardiac patients in the ICU overnight.
• Provide care for 10–15cardiothoracic surgery inpatients on the hospital ward each night.
• Perform comprehensivepatient assessments and ongoing monitoring.
• Respond promptly to changesin patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Order and interpretdiagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging.
• Develop and implementtreatment plans in collaboration with surgeons and intensivists.
• Perform procedures andclinical interventions within scope of practice and hospital privileges.
• Communicate effectively withnursing staff, physicians, and multidisciplinary care teams.
• Ensure accurate and timelydocumentation in the electronic medical record.
• Facilitate smooth patienthandoffs to the daytime care team.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited NPor PA program.
• Current or eligible SouthDakota NP or PA licensure.
• National certification as a NPor NCCPA certification for PA.
• Current BLS and ACLScertifications.
• Previous ICU, critical care,cardiac, or acute care experience.

Preferred:

• Cardiothoracic surgeryexperience.
• Critical care orcardiovascular ICU background.
• Experience managingpost-operative cardiac surgery patients.
