Job Description: The Department of Surgery and the Heart and Vascular Center at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville (UF COM‑J) is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon. The successful candidate will receive an appointment at the tenure or non‑tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor ranks. The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of post‑residency/fellowship experience and be able to perform all aspects of advanced/complex adult cardiac and thoracic surgery. Proficiency in coronary artery bypass, valve surgery (open and minimally invasive), arrhythmia surgery, thoracic aortic surgery, thoracoscopic and robotic lung resection, and mediastinal surgery is required.
The position will academically report to the Chair of the Department of Surgery and operationally to the CT Surgery Director of the Heart and Vascular Center at UF COM‑J. Major responsibilities include patient care, teaching, and research. The successful candidate must participate in an on‑call schedule and be eligible for unrestricted licensure in the state of Florida.
Required Qualifications:
MD/DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution;
Board Certified or Board Eligibility in cardiothoracic surgery;
Eligible for or active Florida Medical License;
Minimum of 5 years of post‑residency/fellowship experience;
Demonstrated record of excellence in cardiothoracic surgical procedures;
Experience in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), aortic surgery including TEVAR, complex valvular surgery (including minimally invasive techniques), maze procedure for atrial fibrillation, TAVR, robotic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, ECMO/LVAD placement;
Demonstrated record in academic setting including education, scholarly productivity and program development.
