Carilion Clinic is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Radiologist with fellowship training in Thoracic or Cardiothoracic Imaging to join their Department of Radiology at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. This opportunity supports growing cardiothoracic services, including a new 400,000 square-foot addition to CRMH for the Cardiothoracic Institute. The role involves interpreting a variety of imaging studies and participating in academic activities within a busy clinical and academic practice.

Practice Info

  • Join a department composed of 21 Diagnostic Radiologists based in Roanoke, including one cardiothoracic fellowship-trained Radiologist, 6 dedicated Interventional Radiologists, 1 Neuro-Interventional Radiologist, 4 dedicated Breast Imaging Radiologists, and 7 additional Diagnostic Radiologists based at Regional Hospitals outside of Roanoke.
  • Studies currently performed in the cardiothoracic imaging division include CT imaging (cancer staging, lung cancer screening, interstitial lung disease evaluation) and cardiac studies (coronary CTA, vein mapping cardiac CT, TAVI evaluation, cardiac MRI).
  • Participate collaboratively in multiple tumor board conferences, including weekly thoracic oncology conferences, weekly general oncology conferences, and monthly cardiac imaging conferences held jointly with the section of cardiovascular medicine.
  • Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) is a 703-bed flagship hospital, a designated Level 1 trauma center, and a designated Stroke Center.
  • CRMH and associated imaging centers are state-of-the-art facilities with seven CT scanners (including four dual-energy scanners) and five Siemens MRI scanners including three 3-Tesla systems.
  • Technology platforms include Sectra PACS, Powerscribe 360, EPIC EMR, Tera-Recon, and Syngo.Via advanced image processing.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret thoracic/cardiothoracic imaging studies.
  • Interpret general neuro/body/MSK radiographs/ultrasound/CT studies.
  • Participate in multiple tumor board conferences, including weekly thoracic oncology conferences and weekly general oncology conferences.
  • Participate in monthly cardiac imaging conferences held jointly with the section of cardiovascular medicine.
  • Fulfill light teaching responsibilities for medical students and non-radiology residents at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

Compensation

  • Min Starting Salary: $531,000.
  • Max Starting Salary: $700,000.
  • Eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs to improve the minimum salary.
  • Historical averages of Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus earnings are included in the maximum salary.
  • Base Salary plus two-tier bonus plan.
  • Relocation Paid: Yes.

Shift & Schedule

  • Overnight shifts are covered by teleradiology.
  • Evening shifts (5P to 11P) and weekend shifts are distributed evenly amongst the 21 diagnostic Radiologists based at CRMH.

Requirements

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible Radiologist.
  • Fellowship training in Thoracic or Cardiothoracic Imaging.
  • Ability to interpret general neuro/body/MSK radiographs/ultrasound/CT studies.
  • All Radiologists at CRMH have academic appointments at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
