Ongoing Locum Coverage 2 Weeks/Month Commitment Mixed Clinic & Inpatient Practice

Are you a Board Certified or Board Eligible General or Invasive Cardiologist seeking a consistent, recurring locum tenens engagement? A well-established healthcare system in Alpena, Michigan, is seeking a cardiologist for ongoing monthly coverage. This opportunity provides a balanced clinical workflow combining outpatient clinic, inpatient consults, cardiac imaging, and procedures, backed by strong APP support and EPIC EMR.

Step into a well-supported cardiology service that provides comprehensive cardiovascular care to the local community. The facility offers a flexible procedural model, allowing responsibilities to be tailored directly to your specific training, skill set, and comfort level.

• Clinical Scope: Practice a balanced hybrid model encompassing:

  • Outpatient clinic (new patient consultations and follow-up care)

  • Inpatient rounding and hospital consultations

  • Interpretation of cardiac imaging and diagnostic testing

  • Procedural care tailored to your privilege preferences

• Procedural Capabilities: Preferred procedural experience includes:

  • Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE)

  • Cardioversions

  • Loop recorder implantations and explantations

  • Diagnostic cardiac catheterizations (available based on interest, not required)

• The Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shifts .

• Call Commitments: Manageable 1:2 call rotation (weekday beeper call and rotated weekend call).

• Coverage Cadence: Ongoing commitment of approximately 2 weeks per month .

• Support & EMR: Supported by an active Advanced Practice Provider (APP) on the service with no APP supervision required . The facility utilizes EPIC EMR integrated with Dragon dictation.

• Board Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease.

• Licensure: Active, unencumbered Michigan State Medical License preferred; candidates holding an active IMLC Letter of Qualification will also be considered.

• Life Support: Active ACLS and BLS certifications required.

• Clinical Volume Prerequisites:

  • Minimum of 50 cardiology cases performed within the past 12 months.

  • Minimum of 25 TEEs completed within the past 12 months.

  • Note: Proctoring may be required depending on the specific procedural privileges requested.
