ChenMed is seeking a Cardiologist to join its clinical operations team, providing direct patient care and assessments primarily in an ambulatory health care center setting. This role involves diagnosing and treating cardiovascular ailments, developing care plans, and providing health education, while contributing to a rapidly expanding organization focused on transforming healthcare for seniors. The Cardiologist will play a key role in leading a cardiovascular care team and collaborating with the Medical Director to ensure compliance and maximize clinical value.

Practice Info

  • Primarily in the ambulatory health care center setting.
  • Leads a cardiovascular care team that may include Care Promoters, Echocardiogram/X-ray Technician(s), and in some cases a mid-level (ARNP or PA) dedicated to cardiology.
  • Manages the care of chronic cardiovascular diseases for a panel of at minimum 5,000 patients (with the support of the Care Team and Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant depending on ratio).
  • May have responsibility for cardiology clinical operations of 2-5 centers in the market, under the supervision of the MD, CVC.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care, care coordination, echocardiogram reading, population management of market's members, and oversight of PCP's cardiovascular skills.
  • Assist the Medical Director, Cardiology (MDC) in managing the day-to-day clinical and business operations and building positive relationships with providers and key stakeholders.
  • Consult with the Medical Director, Cardiology to ensure compliance with guidelines and participate in risk and quality management programs, clinical meetings and other programs.
  • Assess patient’s ability to withstand the stresses of cardiovascular or other surgeries and help surgeons or invasive cardiologists in managing strategy for patient, including clearing patient for surgery.
  • Run and accurately read EKG, chest X-rays and echoes; includes ability to know which blood tests to order to check for certain types of heart diseases.
  • Prescribe medication and treatment in accordance with patient condition, payer coverage/guidelines and industry standards.
  • Review PCP requests for external cardiology referrals and participate in delegated utilization authorizations; determine level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments.
  • Provide patient education related to heart disease, wellness, prevention and early detection, including supporting market CHF clinics and other patient education initiatives.

Compensation

  • $278,575 - $397,963 Salary
  • This position may also be eligible for a bonuses or commissions.

Requirements

  • MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics or similar specialty required
  • Board certification in Cardiology required
  • Current, unrestricted and active license to practice medicine in state of employment
  • Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration required
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Cardiologist required
  • Prior experience working with interdisciplinary teams in quality improvement and or medical/healthcare leadership activities preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required w/in first 90 days of employment
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally and nationwide up to 15% of the time
  • Spoken and written fluency in English
