Department: Echocardiology
Position Summary:The Cardiac Sonographer II follows established policies and procedures to perform and record Echocardiology diagnostic tests. They obtain information about normal and abnormal anatomy to diagnose diseases and ensure echo exams are of acceptable quality. The role involves providing appropriate patient care based on the ages of the patients served.
Primary Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:- Review patient charts and previous study results
- Select appropriate equipment and explain tests/procedures to patients
- Move transducer over the body to observe sound wave display screen for pathologies
- Complete sonographer reports and maintain competency for contrast agent use
- Capture images in CPACS and discuss test results with physicians
- Maintain equipment, perform adjustments, and replenish supplies
- Perform clerical duties and attend related educational programs
- Support continuous quality improvement efforts and assist in clinical training
- Develop positive working relationships with medical center personnel and outside agencies
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with certification (RDCS or CCI Registry)
- BLS certification required
- Professional knowledge of echocardiology techniques and at least one year of training in echocardiology
- Effective communication skills with patients and healthcare personnel
