Cardiac Perfusionist

Overview

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is recruiting multiple Cardiac Perfusionists to support the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System at 2215 Fuller Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105. The work schedule is Monday‑Friday with on‑call duties. The schedule may change according to Ansible or its customer’s direction.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Cardio‑Thoracic service with bypass surgical cases and valve replacement of various types.
• Perform on‑site perfusion services in the treatment of eligible veteran beneficiaries as referred and authorized by the Ann Arbor VAMC.
• Prepare and operate the heart and lung machine/pumps, maintaining a sterile environment, blood volume, and preventing shock or air embolus.
• Assemble supplies and equipment to accept patients on extracorporeal circulation in cases of premature cardiac arrest or failure.
• Prepare, maintain, and operate VA‑owned equipment including the heart‑lung machine, intra‑aortic balloon pump, and centrifugal ventricular assist device.

Qualifications

• Education: Must hold a degree in perfusion approved by the VA.
  • (1) Bachelor’s or master’s degree in perfusion from a program in the United States or Canada accredited by CAAHEP or RQualTM Canada.
  • (2) Bachelor’s or master’s degree plus a post‑baccalaureate certificate in perfusion from a program accredited by CAAHEP or the EQualTM Canada.
• Full and unrestricted license to the services covered by this contract issued in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
• Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Education Program in Perfusion Technology and certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
• Experience in open‑heart surgery, heart‑lung machine, membrane oxygenation, left/right heart bypass, intra‑aortic balloon pumping, and centrifugal ventricular assist device.
• Active certification as a perfusionist with documentation of current certification.
• Active AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• No sponsorship available.

Physical Requirements

• Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift.
• Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
• Lift up to 20 lbs.
• Carry up to 40 lbs over a reasonable distance.
• Push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
