Overview

Sentara is hiring an experienced Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist II for Sentara's Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. The role involves assisting with complex cardiovascular procedures, preparing the operating room with appropriate sterile instruments and equipment, anticipating the surgeon's needs during procedures, and maintaining strict aseptic technique. The Technologist II serves as a preceptor or resource for junior technologists and students, and collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and nursing staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care throughout the perioperative process.

Location

Norfolk, VA

Shift

Four ten‑hour shifts 0700‑1730, Monday‑Friday, with rotating call. Multiple shifts available.

Sign On Bonus

Up to $30,000 offered for experienced candidates.

Education & Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist Trade School Degree – REQUIRED
• Virginia Surgical Technologist License – REQUIRED
• NBSTSA CST Certification – REQUIRED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – REQUIRED
• 2 years Cardiovascular or Thoracic experience – REQUIRED

About Sentara's Heart Hospital

Sentara Norfolk General/Sentara Heart Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma center in Norfolk, VA. The hospital’s Cardiac Surgery program includes dedicated CVOR rooms, a specialized cardiac OR team, and performs high‑volume, complex open‑heart and structural cases. It also serves as a regional center for ECMO/MCS, heart transplant, and aortic dissection care.
