Sanford Health is seeking a BE/BC Cardiac Electrophysiologist to join its established Cardiovascular Institute in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This role involves providing comprehensive care for adult patients with heart rhythm disorders within a state-of-the-art facility. The position offers an opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team in a large, integrated health system.
Practice Info
- Join a group of 3 general cardiologists, 2 cardiac electrophysiologists, 3 interventional cardiologists, and 3 cardio-thoracic vascular surgeons.
- Dedicated block days.
- 2 dedicated EP procedural rooms (1 hybrid cath/EP; 1 EP only).
- Device clinic.
- State-of-the-art echo labs including 3D TEE, well-developed structural and heart disease program.
- No General Call Required.
Responsibilities
- Perform history and physical examination.
- Admit, evaluate, treat, and provide consultation to acute and chronically ill adult patients presenting with a variety of heart rhythm disorders.

Shift & Schedule
- Clinic hours are from 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri.
Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Internal Medicine residency program of at least 3 years' duration.
- Completion of a fellowship in Cardiology of at least 3 years' duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
- Successful completion of an approved ACGME training program that is 12 months in length in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, in addition to the Cardiology fellowship.
- Certification by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
- If not board certified at the time of application but completed fellowship training within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training.
- If just completed a fellowship, provide fellowship log meeting required COCATs training for specialized electrophysiology, cardiac pacing, and arrhythmia management.
- If not applying directly out of a fellowship, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) showing clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
- For Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology skills, applicant must be able to demonstrate that he/she has successfully performed 50 ICD/permanent pacemaker placements and 25 ablations in the past 24 months.
- The first 10 Cardiac Invasive/Interventional EP procedures at Sanford Medical Center will be performed under the supervision of the EP Lab Director or Physician Designee.
