Job OpportunityPositions Location: Carson City, MIJob DescriptionGeneral Purpose of Job: Produces ultrasonic recordings of the heart for use by the Cardiologist in the diagnosis of disease and study of malfunction to patients as assigned by supervisors and given on the physician's written order for both in house and out patient care.Essential Duties:Appropriately selects and uses equipment in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examinationAccurately explains process to patient and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examinationSupervises and trains student sonographers as requestedCommunicates with, assists, and reviews images with Cardiologist as needed or requestedResponsible for keeping all ultrasound equipmentCollects QI data as necessaryMay be required to perform other diagnostic procedures. Diagnostic procedures may include, cardiac stress testing, cardiac event monitoring, Echocardiograms, Electroencephalograms, Holter monitoring, and ElectrocardiogramsJob RequirementsGeneral Requirements: Registered with RDMS or CCI or registry eligible and successfully pass the registry within (1) year of employment • BLS • Preferred - ACLSWork Experience: None • Preferred - One year experience as a cardiac sonographerEducation: Accredited ultrasound or echocardiography program or an equivalentSpecialized Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.University of Michigan Health-Sparrow is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
