California Licensed Inpatient Coder

To support the coding operations at Redwood City Hospital, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately code and abstract inpatient cases from medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines while working remotely. Key responsibilities: Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding while meeting established productivity and quality standards Interacts with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient diagnostic and procedural information Required qualifications: Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years High School Diploma or GED with completion of classes in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and current coding conventions from an accredited program Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes relevant to inpatient coding
